ABOUT

Claire Lewis is a 20-year-old conductor and pianist, and is pursuing her graduate studies at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University under the tutelage of Marin Alsop. Claire made her Carnegie Hall conducting debut with the Chamber Orchestra of New York in May 2023, as the winner of the Respighi Prize in Conducting.

As a Conducting Scholar of Eastern Music Festival in 2023, Claire conducted performances with the Eastern Symphony Orchestra and the Eastern Festival Orchestra. She has recently served as Assistant Conductor for performances with Protestra and the Chamber Orchestra of New York. Claire was the co-founder and Vice President of San Marcos Youth Strings from 2017-2019, conducting ensembles, arranging music, and organizing performances.

When Claire was 13, she became the youngest graduate of Palomar College, earning an Associate’s Degree in Science and Math. Claire entered the Manhattan School of Music at 15, studying classical piano under William Wolfram, and received her Bachelor’s of Music Degree in Spring 2023.

Claire’s conducting mentors include Marin Alsop, Joseph Young, Salvatore Di Vittorio, and Gerard Schwarz.
